Cuban dictator Fidel Castro once tried to cadge a $10 bill out of the
President of the United States. In a November 1940 letter to Franklin
D. Roosevelt, the 12-year-old Castro sought the cash because, he
stated, he had never even laid eyes on some beautiful American green.
We're sure FDR took a pass on this Cuban aid request and probably also
didn't follow up on Lil' Fidel's offer to broker some iron exports. (3
