| | In East Hampton, N.Y., the ritzy beach town favored by movie stars
and multimillionaires, Martha Stewart has been in a pitched battle with
her next-door neighboor (a Manhattan real estate tycoon named Harry
Macklowe) over everything from plantings to fences. The dispute
exploded in
late-May when, according to a 23-year-old landscaper working for Macklowe,
an enraged Stewart tried to run him over with her truck. Here's the East
Hampton police complaint filed by Michael Munnich, who provided cops with
a wonderful narrative of his profanity-laced encounter with the homemaking
queen. We've also included the July 25th press release from the local
district attorney, who has declined to bring criminal charges against
Stewart. Our friends at The East Hampton Star, namely Assistant Managing
Editor Michelle Napoli, have been all over this story. (4 pages)
