Mom In Trouble For Boozy Slumber Party

JANUARY 18--Meet Sherry Herzner. The Kentucky woman, 31, is facing criminal charges for allegedly arranging an alcohol-soaked slumber party for her 15-year-old daughter and six of the girl's friends. According to police, underage attendees were told to bring $5 to the party, which occurred last Friday at Herzner's Newport home. According to a police report, a copy of which you can find here, Herzner used the money to purchase vodka, which she served to her minor guests. Investigators learned of the boozing when one of the guests called her mother in tears and asked to be picked up from Herzner's apartment. When the woman realized that her daughter, 14, had been drinking, she called cops. Officers responding to Herzner's residence found the woman to be 'highly intoxicated' and detected the odor of alcohol on the young partygoers, all of whom were tested and found to have alcohol in their systems. Herzner was charged with seven misdemeanor counts of unlawful transaction with a minor. Pictured below in a mug shot, Herzner was also hit with a failure to appear charge in connection with an unrelated court matter. (3 pages)
