Friday Photo Fun XVII
Manager for Sammy Davis, Jr. was once subject of Mafia hit talk
JUNE 19--For today's "Friday Photo Fun" contest, entrants had to examine an FBI report and determine what famous entertainer's manager was once marked for death by some wiseguys.
The overwhelming choice of the nearly 900 contest entrants was Frank Sinatra (seems that Mafia+showbiz+mayhem=Old Blue Eyes). Other leading choices were James Brown; Jackie Wilson; Dean Martin; Miles Davis; Rick James; Elvis Presley; and Screamin' Jay Hawkins. The best guess, however, was "Robert DeNiro. Or maybe Carrot Top."
While Sinatra was not the answer, a fellow Rat Pack member was: Sammy Davis, Jr.
A small group of contestants correctly identified Davis, and from that group five names will be drawn at random, with the winners each getting their pick of a title on The New York Times fiction or nonfiction best seller list.
