This is the subpoena issued to Gonzalez by Rep. Dan Burton, chairman of the House Committee on Government Reform. Burton, an Indiana Republican who is an outspoken critic of Fidel Castro, ordered Elian to attend a February 10 hearing. Burton, who rarely seeks kindergarten students as witnesses, said he issued the subpoena as a ploy "to ensure that no precipitous action is taken until the Florida State court in Miami can adequately address the Gonzalez case."
