Williams Police Report

JANUARY 5--Before becoming the country’s most distinctive new voice, Ted Williams compiled a lengthy rap sheet that landed him in several Ohio lockups on a variety of criminal charges, according to law enforcement records.

Williams, 53, has been busted for theft, robbery, escape, forgery, and drug possession. He is pictured at right in mug shots (click to enlarge) taken as a result of those Ohio collars, which stretch back more than two decades.

The convicted felon’s speedy rise to fame is not sitting well with one Columbus businessman who called cops on Williams and a female companion in early-July. The man, a manager at National Tire & Battery, told cops that Williams and the woman were “refusing to leave the business property” and had become an “ongoing problem” for the business, according to a police report.

While Williams begged customers for money, the woman “gets picked up and dropped off in the parking lot by various and numerous males in different vehicles. The management had repeatedly asked the two suspects to stay off the property and have been cussed and yelled at by the suspects for their effort.”

Cops warned Williams and his companion that they would be arrested if they returned to the property. The businessman, who only wanted to be identified as Dan, told TSG that Williams’s newfound notoriety had left him a “little aggravated.” The man said that he had seen Williams urinate in front of the business, and watched recently as he and his female friend stripped to their underwear as they changed into dry clothes during a rainstorm.

Dan added that his company shares a lot with a Lowe’s store, and he has seen Williams stealing items from cars parked by customers visiting the home improvement firm. “He’s basically been a thief for the past two years,” Dan said. The businessman added that last month he saw cops putting Williams in a squad car. However, the Columbus Division of Police had no record of Williams being collared in December. (1 page)

Ok now somebody gets a lucky break that maybe he didnt deserve, so lets put him down. and truthfully i would rather listen to Ted talk shakespeare all day then some venom spitting Rush L. I certainly believe that if you have nothing good to say dont say it. And all the people putting down the homeless are just justifying their own greed. It sorta reminds me of a bully beating on a wimp and then thinking he is a tough guy. I wish the wimp would pull out a gun and shoot the asshat then piss in his face
The problem with your remark is that no one is putting down the homeless. They are putting down the criminal mentioned in this story who happens to have 12 mug shots just a little higher on this page.
sorry i left out criminal somewhere didnt mean to.
ok there ya go looking for something to rip into to justify your position and im sure you have lived a perfect life and if you were homeless and hungry and spit on by society you would still be a model law abiding citizen.
granted their are criminals that are deserving of their just punishment, but i dont see any murder or million/billion dollar fraud or heinous sex crimes and i see more people who have the means to fight charges get away with more then Ted ever done and whats worst them type criminals probably never had to sweat a paycheck they were probably the ones signing the checks so the governments going to kiss there rear
I see, so if he didn't steel a million dollars from someone he's OK with you. He's a bum.
I wasn't actually "looking" sport. His twelve mug shots are right here on this page. As far as I can tell he has been spitting on society and society has so far been fairly patient with his sorry ass. And yes, if I was homeless, I would go to a shelter and stand in line for day labor, I wouldn't become a felon and pimp my woman at Home Depot or Lowe's.
God, will you stop saying "sport"...it is very annoying.
Trust me, it's way nicer than the other things that come to mind.
its always easier said then done, and obviously you have never been to one of them day labor places. And if you had, your opinion would be different, just like the people complaining about illegal immigrants but they would never last a day doing the type of work the illegals do. And they woud be the first one to complain if they had to pay a living wage to get that type of work done, Why do you think our goverment aint going after the people employing the illegals
You are right...it IS easier to be a criminal. The STRONG homeless people are the ones that make the choice NOT to break the law just because they are down on their luck. And millions of homeless in this country and around the world make that choice to be strong every day. It is the weak ones that say "well...I have carte blanche to do what I want because I have no job or home."
As a matter of fact I have gotten work at day labor offices when I was young. Are you suggesting to me that it is somehow beneath a criminal to take menial labor? Are you seriously trying to tell me that doing a hard day's work is a disgrace and some sort of mistreatment as compared to robbing some innocent person? What the hell kind of person are you?
@redrovercaneatadick: why is it wrong to judge? The crimes committed are obvious and as is his state of mind at the time of these crimes. We are speaking about something we see not making random references or throwing statements that assume something that APPARENTLY you feel the victim should be ashamed of. Such as "I’m sorry your daddy touched you in naughty places when you were a child but don’t take it out on the rest of the world. " So being molested is the fault of the person it happens to and THAT is something we should judge a person for, but becoming a drug addict is not something we should judge because that person didn't CHOOSE that life? Nice one!
"as is his state of mind at the time of these crimes. " You contradicted yourself dumb ***. Probably some prissy stupid bitch that lives in the suburbs with mommy and daddy and is severely un-educated in drugs/crimes/psychology.
Can I "friend" you? You know, in case I need to ask someone what it's like to live in a run down trailer, with a bunch of drunks and crack-heads and petty criminals.
I find it amusing that you all commend this man and every other addict for "overcoming the odds". Last I checked, when you started out life, the odds were ALL in your favor. You didn't know what drugs were, you weren't using them and they weren't around. Then YOU made the choice to start using drugs. YOU started hanging around with the type of people that make these same bad choices and YOU started this bad downward spiral in your life. These people don't deserve sympathy, they made their life choices and I'm tired of being the victim in a society where no one is responsible for the choices they make or the actions they take.
steffaneee - are you totally mad? There are some children in this world you know who DO NOT HAVE ANY LIFE CHANCES WHEN THEY ARE BORN. And yes, they do know what drugs are, their parents use them and they are born into an environment that gives them nothing, nothing at all to start with. You sound like a right idiotic dumbo. Get out and about and open your eyes a little. Maybe a month living without one single penny (dollar) would give you an idea of what some people have to live through.
Except that that reality does not exist in this country. Though it is sometimes used by liberals as an excuse for bad behavior the fact is that every single community in this country provides welfare, food, shelter and a free education. Pretending that the united states is equivalent to Darfur is just silly liberal hyperbole.
What has happened to you?Why so cold?Every single human being#1 deserves a second chance,#2 deserves some compassion and sympathy.I'll admit if someone keeps making the same mistakes over and over and over again it is much harder to feel sorry for them. But why not feel good for this man?We don't have no clue how his life has been. Some mug shots. Some arrests records. We don't have all the facts so we should remember to at least reserve our judgement of him.We actually shouldn't judge at all.I try not to but at times fail.We are a imperfect race.We make mistakes. Why shouldn't people want to give compassion and sympathy towards our fellow man or woman?Wouldn't you want the same?Of course drug addicts choose to use drugs. Not one addict I've ever met started using with the intention of becomming a full blown addict and lose it all.Sometimes it happens.Sometimes conditions out of peoples control take that person to a place they never intended on going to.And when people realize they made a mistake and realize they are an addict and seek help,we should give them another chance. We should show them sympathy. We should all try to help out our fellow man or woman at some point in our life if we are in a position to give that help.Imagine that.People actually helping other people. That happens everyday but only by few compared to the rest that don't.Stefanee how would you feel if when you were a child you were raped by your father and brother.Reapetdly for years and because of that chose to self medicate and abuse drugs. When you realized you want to get clean and change your life what would you say to a person that left the exact comment you left?"Well you chose to use drugs and screw up your life, goodluck fixing it.You don't deserve no sympathy or help from anyone. You did this you fix it".That's not the overall human spirit that I believe.I hope you can see that everyone deserves compassion, sympathy, love and a second chance in life. God Bless.
ummm allen...this shows that he has gotten about TWELVE "second chances" Just how many do people deserve?
People are raped, beaten and abused and still choose to be responsible adults. This bum was pimping his girlfriend and having the cops called on him as recently as last month. He didn't get a second chance. That implies choice. He won the pity lottery.
Right on!
Since this man has NOT raised anyone's taxes etc., do these hateful statements about him Prove - that all the hateful statements made about the President as well, are simply a bunch of Racist mumblings, that are leveled at ANY Person-of-Color in the USA???
@ Redrover. I would like to know what makes you so HIGH & MIGHTY that you can sit there and judge. Is your life that worthless that you can only feel useful but trying to put someone down? I feel sorry for someone like you because people like you will never know faith and will never enjoy anything in life. I’m sorry your daddy touched you in naughty places when you were a child but don’t take it out on the rest of the world.
Actually I have a good life because I do have faith and I get up each day and work hard and chose to do right rather than wrong. I chose to nurture my children not abandon them. I chose to love my wife rather than pawn her possessions and buy crack. I choose to use a bathroom rather than a street and I choose not to pimp my woman and instead provide her protection and safety. I guess you have to be pretty low to make excuses for a man who doesn't even look out for his own mother.
How will you feel if your daughter becomes a drug addict who prostitutes her body to buy her drugs. Then you will flip on your opinions. You disgust me. If you have faith as you say, why not be happy for our fellow man? Why not try to help out our fellow man or woman? It's people like you filled with hatred and selfishness of our fellow man or woman that is not living up to your standard. Who are you to set this standard? I hope you never have to go through some things I've gone through before you realize that you are wrong. Faith teaches us to forgive. To be kind. To help one another. Where is this so-called faith you have? Going to mass on sunday is not considered faith. One must live practicing to be a better person. God Bless you.
Unlike this man, I never abandoned my daughters. I raised them with love and taught them the difference between right and wrong. There is no drug any man could have ever given me that would have prevented me from my god given duty to nurture and protect them. My bible taught me that I should forgive but not forget. My bible taught me that I ought to know the difference between good and evil. This man was being a criminal up until several weeks ago. He is a bum. So please, lets not pretend that he decided to turn a new leaf. He's simply been invited to a pity party.
TY
I hope he is able to take advantage of the big break he's been given, but he's LYING about being sober for two years -- if he has been, he certainly hasn't been clean -- not many people stay clean and sober but continue to piss on people's flowers. (And even if you don't have a pot to piss in, you can still go behind a bush and be discreet.) Kudos to the people offering him jobs, but I'd suggest they keep their valuables locked up.
Right on!
Clean is sober. Please educate yourself upon drug terms. Thank you.
That's just plain silly. Why should we educate ourselves on the lingo of low-lifes?
Because otherwise you're just plain ignorant on what you're attempting to converse about on here. Which is quickly becoming all too obvious :)
I don't need to know crap about criminal drug behavior or the lingo of bums. And, I sure as hell don't give a rats ass what motivates a criminal.
Headline:..................LAZY, DEADBEAT DAD, PETTY CRIMINAL, DRUG ADDICT WITH GOLDEN VOICE... GETS BIG BREAK!!
Ya know, I agree with you Redrover. And I just hope all these people that expect homeless folks to rob and do drugs pimp themselves or whatever remember that when someone in their family has a run in with one of those expected homeless people robbing them.
Well, It really doesn't matter.. He got offered a job for the Cleveland Cavaliers for Voice over, He got a free house as well as PAID mortgage. Looks like what you guys attempted to do failed. Good luck next time "The Smoking Gun".
No where does it say he got a free house. It said he got some help in paying HIS mortgage. Just like millions of others. Why hate? It's your own jealousy that comes through in your comment
Damn them for publishing the truth!!!
You people are low life bastards (the people trying to tear Ted down). Who cares about his history? It is in the past. ADDICTION can be a very powerful thing and the choices made by addicts are not always the best one. Give Ted a f*@cking break. Sorry Ted can’t be as perfect as the people trying to tear him down.
TO: Redrover, why don't you go back to the sh*thole you crawled out of. My father struggled with addiction for 30 years and still struggles today. He has a rap sheet 5 times longer than Teds. He would steal, rob, and beat my mother all because of his addiction. I don't think he has every paid a dime of child support or ever will. Until you have dealt with someone in your life who had to fight an addiction you will never understand what these type of people go through. I know people who have killed because of addiction and they will never be able to rebuild their life because they will spend in a jail cell. Ted is one of the lucky ones. I can only pray that he will stay on the right track and stay sober. As for you, I hope you don't work in the Human Service field because you would be useless.
Jeez Cyn, I've got a nice life. Seems like yours really sucks though. Bummer.
Actually I have a great life because I had a strong mother who was a survivor and raised us very well by beating the odds and getting out of a horrible situation. My father's sad life doesn't reflect my own. People like you lash out because your existence "sucks" and the only way it will suck less for you is if you hide behind your computer and tear people down. Try doing something selfless for a change. I work in this field and see this everyday. I never give up on my clients and always keep the faith that someday they will turn their life around no matter how many times they fall.
I haven't lashed out, you have. I have simply pointed out the obvious. This man is dead beat father, petty criminal, pimp, thief, felon and bum. Those are facts supported by empirical evidence (see above). As to doing something about the problem? I do. I selflessly give up 28% of my income to provide welfare, food stamps, drug rehab, homeless shelters and prisons for guys like him. Additionally, I help to pay the salaries of people like you so that these sorts of guys can get warm hugs in between their robberies and pimping.
Sorry to disappoint you but you don't pay my salary. My agency is self funded by the owner and founder who was a addict and turned his life around by getting help from someone who cared. We recieved no state or federal funding. So take you 28% and blow it right back up your sphincter.
What is the name of the agency?
As if I would a person of your ignorance any personal information.
I see, so this "agency" you work for might otherwise be referred to as a liberal "fairy tale".
No..........someone with a minimum of 12 booking photos is a "low life bastard". Look it up. It's in the big book of Common Sense.
Hopefully Mr. Williams, who has had this talent for many, many years can make a go of it. Whatever stresses and bumps in life that put him where he is today are still going to be there tomorrow and into the future. Maybe he can overcome or deal with them maybe not. Hope springs eternal in the human breast but sometimes reality just bites. Without some support or mental help day to day life might derail this feel-good story. Seems odd how some people posting here use their emotions and completely ignore their brains, while others spew their personal hate on this man as if he represents some form of evil that MUST be "kept in his place." I think the reactions of individuals about this story says more about the reactors then about Mr. Williams. Some of the posters are much worse then anything Williams may or may not be -- and really you racists, haters and otherwise unbalanced people know who you are. The warm feeling you get from others wrecked lives and circumstances should alert you to the your own demons and fouled black souls.
