Meet Matthew Marshall Dowdy, the Virginia numbskull just busted for claiming to have eyewitnessed the most recent shooting by the so-called Beltway Sniper. Dowdy, a 37-year-old convicted felon whose rap sheet includes busts for burglary, assault, and grand larceny, was charged today with making false statements to a law enforcement officer. If convicted of the charge, a misdemeanor, Dowdy could face a maximum of six months in prison. (2 page)
