Martha Stewart Referred To Justice Department
This is the referral letter sent today (9/10) to the Department of Justice by the congressional committee probing possible insider trading by Martha Stewart. The House Energy and Commerce committee, which has been probing the ImClone stock scandal, has formally asked prosecutors to review whether Stewart may have violated the federal False Statements Act. While Stewart declined to testify before the committee, the homemaking guru's lawyers submitted two letters on her behalf that detailed Stewart's account of her controversial sale of stock in the biomedical firm. Those letters and the other exhibits mentioned in the referral letter can be viewed (PDF format) by clicking here. (8 pages)
