Roethlisberger Evidence Photos Released

JUNE 9--The Georgia Bureau of Investigation today released evidence photos and videotaped witness interviews compiled during its probe of a college student's claim that she was sexually assaulted by NFL star Ben Roethlisberger. As seen on these pages, some of the images obtained by GBI agents show the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and teammate Willie Colon posing with a variety of young women, including the 20-year-old accuser.

In the photos, the face of the alleged victim, a Georgia College and State University student, has been digitally blurred by GBI officials. The woman told police Roethlisberger raped her in a bathroom adjacent to the VIP section of the Capital City club in Milledgeville, a college town 90 miles southeast of Atlanta.

In addition to the party pictures, the GBI also released photos taken of the "Employees Only" bathroom in which Roethlisberger's encounter with the woman occurred. Two images record a crime scene technician using a cotton swab to remove some unknown substance from a grimy bathroom wall. Other photos show Capital City's VIP room, where Roethlisberger reportedly purchased a round of shots for women and announced, "All my bitches, take some shots."

Investigators concluded that there was not enough evidence to charge Roethlisberger in connection with the March 5 incident. The athlete was suspended for six games shortly after GBI officials released 572 pages of reports detailing his latest booze-fueled escapade. (18 pages)
