Entertainment dynamo Barbra Streisand's foundation is so busy that she
pays an executive director $128,000 to run her charity operation. In
1997, Streisand parted with a total of $658,159 in grants and
contributions. Along with a slew of predictable lefty causes,
Streisand gave $10,000 to Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of
Government (where Babs once delivered a, um, stirring lecture) and
$5,000 to a transplant awareness group run by James Redford, the son
of actor Robert Redford, Streisand's co-star in "The Way We Were." (9
