Screen cowboy Gene Autry, who died last year, donated $4.2 million via his foundation during 1997. The Autry Foundation, which reported a market value of about $24 million, gave $1 million to the United Way and $3.1 million to Autry's own Museum of Western Heritage. (2 pages)
