NBC-TV star Jane Pauley and her husband, "Doonesbury" creator Garry Trudeau, are extremely generous, having donated $251,745 during 1997 (including $179,000 to the United Way). But what caught The Smoking Gun's eye was where Pauley invested some of her foundation's money. Along with $14,675 in General Electric stock (the parent company of NBC), Pauley's foundation owned CBS Corp. stock worth $14,719. We think it has something to do with her affinity for fellow Hoosier (and Tiffany Network hostage) David Letterman. (1 page)
