MARCH 29--Though Donald Trump has yet to release his actual birth certificate, a tantalizing clue emerged today that may indicate the multimillionaire developer was, in fact, born in the United States, The Smoking Gun has learned.

Trump, who has challenged President Barack Obama to prove he is an American citizen, yesterday released what he claimed to be his own birth certificate (“It took me one hour to get,” he crowed). Except the document Trump proffered was not an official New York City birth certificate, but rather a document purportedly produced by Jamaica Hospital, where Trump was reportedly born in June 1946.

In an attempt to track down proof of the 64-year-old Trump’s citizenship, TSG today traveled to the main branch of the New York Public Library, which houses a collection of microfiche indices to New York City births. The microfiche cards contain the official Department of Health ledgers of births, broken down by year and borough.

An examination of envelope XMG-1108--which contains an alphabetical listing of all recorded births in New York City in 1946--reveals that a child with the surname “Trump” and the given name “Donald” was born on June 14 in Queens. As seen above (click to enlarge), the entry also includes the number of the corresponding Department of Health birth certificate--7624. The real estate developer has said he was born on June 14.

A New York City birth certificate includes information about a child’s parents, where and when the birth occurred, and the signature of the medical official who attested to details of the birth. However, like Hawaii, New York City birth certificates are not public documents. A copy of a birth certificate will only be released by the Office of Vital Records to the named party or an attorney representing them.

So, to quell suspicions from the growing “Trumper” movement, The Donald--if he does not already have a copy of certificate 7624 from 1946--may want to head here and get his order in the pipeline. A copy will set him back $15, plus $8.30 for a “mailing and service charge.” If Trump orders now online, the wait for processing on his request will only be a few days. (2 pages)

Hey, just would like to point out that this whole whether Obama is a natural born citizen or not debate is ridiculous. Why? It doesn't matter whether he was born here or Kenya because HIS MOTHER WAS A CITIZEN, which under our law of jus sanguinus means that he is a natural born citizen. Anything else is completely irrelevant.

Lefties usually enlist for the government benefits, then many of them become disgruntled when they actually end up deployed into a war zone where they can't handle it and end up on the government dole the rest of their lives because of the PTSD they suffer. However, we should all be grateful for all who serve, even Democrats. I'm beginning to think that a lot of people don't even know the difference between right and left.....they just know what they've been told to believe by their leftist parents, teachers and professors and various leftist news sources. Tim Mcveigh was a top notch soldier, just itching for combat (ask any of his superiors and they will confirm that he was an exemplary soldier in every way). When Bush Sr.'s war did not give him the combat he so intensely craved, he turned his aggresion toward his own country that cheated him out of his moments of violence. Your statement, in a way, is calling soldiers who suffer from PTSD a bunch of pussies. I guess you would rather they be more like Timothy Mcveigh.

You don't understand parody, do you? Trump bragged that he could get his birth certificate quickly, but he got the wrong one and had to send for another. He had been expressing the opinion that Obama may be foreign born because he has not released his long form birth certificate. But Hawaii only issues the COLB which is less detailed but is legal. They want one that shows which hospital he was born in and who the doctor was. Those details are not required to prove citizenship. Maybe it's because it is possible to be born at home or in a cab without the presence of a doctor. It's not hard to google the details birthers think have to be on a legal birth certiticate. TSG has now become an arm of the Obama Re-Election Campaign for 2012. Thanks for letting us know how you stand on it. For anyone who is actually interested in the controversy, here are some points. 1. The short form certificate released by Obama represents something else in the Hawaii archives, a long form presumably. 2. Gov. Abercrombie promised to release the long form in late 2010. Remember? Then he publicly stated he could not release. Nobody is quite sure why. 3. IMO, Obama could have defused all of this simply by requesting the long form be released or waiving his privacy right on that particular document. He has refused to do that - preferring to spend a lot of money on lawyers trying to hide his birth certificate. **** Trump has courage here. And TSG has revealed itself to be just another mouthpiece for Liberal Democrats. At least it has done us a favor by showing us its political bias. Duly noted.

You're absolutely right. He shouldn't have ANY privacy as the President. How dare he? We should have him monitored 24 hours a day, especially when he has to use the bathroom. He was elected by the country to fulfill a public office and the majority of the Senate and House of Representatives believe him to be an American citizen. I HIGHLY doubt that with the heavy biases that the parties have against another that a man could become President without being a natural born citizen. Also, I like how nobody seems to care that his mother is an American citizen. He could have been born in Beijing and he'd be an American citizen because his mother is one. I can't believe that there is still any doubt on this issue.

If a child is born in the US to a father who owes allegiance to a foreign power, that child also owes allegiance to that foreign power. This was always our law. It was US law at the time of the adoption of the Constitution, at the time Obama was born, and it is US law today. Nothing has changed. Obama admits his birth status was governed by the United Kingdom. I think it’s very important to note that Obama himself gave preference to the United Kingdom in his statement at Fight The Smears. Notice that he didn’t say his birth status was governed by both United Kingdom and the US. Obama chose to give preference to his father’s nationality by stating that his birth status was directly tied to his father and not his mother. From Obama's Fightthesmears site: “As a Kenyan native, Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.‘s children.” Why did Obama feel compelled to state that his birth status was governed by the British Nationality Act of 1948 rather than the 14th Amendment?

Three of these six former presidents had fathers born in Ireland. So they didn't qualify according to your standards. Four of them had foreign born mothers, but maternity isn't supposed to count, I guess. Andrew Jackson (1829-1837) is the only president born of two immigrants, both Irish. Presidents with one immigrant parent are Thomas Jefferson (1801-1809), whose mother was born in England, James Buchanan (1857-1861) and Chester Arthur (1881-1885), both of whom had Irish fathers, and Woodrow Wilson (1913-1921) and Herbert Hoover (1929-1933), whose mothers were born respectively in England and Canada.

The notion that everything he signed from day one would be null and void if he was found to be ineligible is just another birther myth for the gullible. If he was removed from office everything he signed would remain exactly the same as it would have been as if he had been eligible. It's called the "de facto officer" doctrine and it's well established in US law. Sure there could theoretically be legal challenges to some things in due course but they'd be highly unlikely to succeed.

Trump knew exactly what he was doing, purposely released the hospital bc, all you people spent more time examining his bc than you have Barry's you all knew it wasn't a legal Long Form Birth Certificate, the likes of which "President Obama" has yet to release. Then after you've all made complete fools out of yourselves including your media heads, ta-dum! This is what a legal long form looks like and it's nothing like obama's Certification of Live Birth, the Certification only proves a child was born alive. Even Sun Yat Sen, founding father of the Republic of China (Taiwan), who was born in Cuiheng, China, was issued a Certification of Live Birth by the State of Hawaii. It's long been known Hawaii is the place to go for illegals to magically become American citizens, it's Hawaii's dirty little secret. The publication of a birth notice in the local paper also proves nothing as these notices are routinely taken off the Certificate of Live Birth registrations. When Factcheck.org released a “Certification of Live Birth” in August 2008, the organization did not disclose that it lacked the information present on the official long-form document which contains the signature of the doctor who delivered the child, the height and weight of the baby, and considerable personal information about the parents such as occupation and their birthplaces. An official document also would have contained a raised stamp from the Registrar of Vital Statistics, the seal is not raised, it's incised! It's a forgery, this is why the State of Hawaii will not verify what was put on the internet is a legal copy. Questions directed to Factcheck.org staff members have repeatedly gone unanswered, no surprise forgery is punishable by law. So now TSG, after the irony of this show and your articles chronicling this event, may we expect to see you release "President Obama's" original Long Form Birth Certificate in your follow-up?

Oh!!! According to the accompanied document, Donald Trump's mother was not a natural born citizen and national of the United States. The document clearly stated that she was born in Scotland, which made her a citizen and national of same regardless of the citizenship of the father. Furthermore, that document is not an official document because it does not bear an offficial State Vital Statistic seal as required by law. This document is not a valid birth document to establish identity, place of birth or right to be and/or remain in the Unuted States of America and would be refused by the most junior officer of the US Dept of State for the purpose of obtaining a legal US passport for travel. Perhap US Immigration and Customs Enforcement should pay the ol' Don a visit...for a cup of tea and a little chat.

What's the point in any more proof of Obama being born in USA? We've got proof coming out lof our ears already and not a single shred of evidence that he wasn't. Furthermore it's absolutely normal for somebody to be born where his parents lived at the time, just like Trump was born where his parents lived at the time.

I haven't seen ANY proof that he was born here. All i've seen is a computer printout issued by the state. I'm adopted. I have a fake birth certificate too! Big Woop! Show me a REAL birth certificate with a signature from a witness that SAW him being born here. (Usually attested by the Doctor Delivering.)

She was naturalized in 1942 and under British law in existence at the time of Trump's birth a British woman who had naturalized in USA and gave birth in USA did not confer British nationality to the child in any case.
