Latin Pop King In Bar Scuffle

FEBRUARY 3--Usually, when an international celebrity pulls out the old "Don't you know who I am?" line, they have a reasonable expectation that the answer might be "yes."

Well, that's not what happened earlier this month to Grammy winner Luis Miguel, the Latin crooner (and former Mariah Carey squeeze), during a confrontation in the lobby bar of a swanky Aspen, Colorado resort.

According to police reports, copies of which you'll find here, Miguel slugged a bar worker who tried to intercede in a scuffle between the 35-year-old Miguel and his bodyguard and William Hardy, a tipsy bar patron. Seems that Hardy had approached Miguel's table because he had recognized someone other than the singer and, at some point, insulted the star "using obscene gestures," said bodyguard Julio Cesar Camera.

Subsequently, Camera put Hardy in a "full nelson hold," while Miguel told his muscle, "You should be going at them, that's what I pay you for." At this point, bar employee Jason Moan interceded and tried to pry Camera off Hardy. Which prompted Miguel himself to try and stop Moan.

"Don't you know who I am?" the singer asked. "I don't care who you are, you don't fight in here," responded Moan. Miguel allegedly replied with a punch to Moan's face.

The singer was later issued a misdemeanor assault summons and is next scheduled to appear in Municipal Court on March 3. Miguel explained to a cop that he was insulted by Hardy and he just "reacted." (3 page)
