The question of what happened to the casket in which the body of John F. Kennedy was transported to Washington from Dallas was answered recently by the National Archives. According to documents released by government officials, the casket was disposed of at sea in February 1966--at the urging of the late president's brother Robert and other family members. Along with records chronicling the disposal, the Archives also released memos detailing the government's fight with a Texas funeral director over the bill for JFK's bronze casket.
