APRIL 7--LeBron James’s mother was arrested early today for battery and disorderly intoxication after she allegedly struck a parking valet in the face during a dispute at a Miami Beach hotel.

Gloria James, 43, was collared by cops around 5 AM at the Fontainebleau hotel, according to a Miami Beach Police Department report. While James was arrested, she was not booked into jail and did not have to pose for a mug shot.

James, who is handcuffed, is pictured at right in a photo taken outside the Fontainebleau by a crime scene technician.

Police allege that the altercation began after James confronted the valet, Sorel Rockfeller, and asked “Where are my fucking keys?” James continued “yelling profanities” at the valet, who explained that he had given the keys to the valet cashier because, though James’s car had been ready for 30 minutes, she stood talking with friends as the vehicle sat running on the valet ramp.

Then, “for no apparent reason,” James allegedly “struck the victim with an open hand across the right side of his face.” In the process, James lost her balance and fell to the ground.

When a cop later asked James for ID, she refused. James, who was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle, then “began to yell at the other female who was the driver, ‘Don’t give him anything. Don’t give him my purse.'” James, the officer noted, “had bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on her breath.”

While at the police station, two other cops tried to speak with James, who remained “very uncooperative” and said, “I’m trying to trust you but I don’t trust your kind. I don’t trust that officer who arrested me.”

It is unclear what “kind” James does not reportedly trust.

James was cited for the two misdemeanor counts, and was released into the custody of an executive with the Miami Heat, the NBA team for which her 26-year-old son stars. (3 pages)

Nonsense. Slavery is as old as mankind, and has been practiced in Africa by Africans since cthe dawn of history. European slavers, most of them White but not all, bought African slaves who had already been enslaved by fellow Africans for being members of the wrong tribe. Racism by fellow Africans. Slavery is still practiced in Africa, by Africans on Africans, and not just in the Sudan. Slavery has been abolished in the Civilized World by Whites.

Racism started in the USA, by white slave owners, Seriously? This has to be joke. The word SLAVES is a variation on the phrasing SLAVS -Or people of Slavic origin. The original slaves, from a European perspective, (which I gather you are referring to based off your insistence that racism was started by WHITE slave owners) were WHITE not black. Furthermore, do not act as though ALL WHITE PEOPLE are responsible for the slave trade. I would hope you would bear in mind several key facts, 2 of which are important enough for me to take time out of my day to enlighten you as to. 1.) African tribal leaders SOLD rival tribal peoples into the slave trade (not excusing the slave trade but merely stating EVERY ethnicity was involved in the horrors of institutionalized slavery. You would be correct in stating NOT ALL or even most were sold, often types it was a round up and that is reprehensible, but the point still stands) 2.) WHITE abolitionist are what made the underground railroad functional by protecting 'runaway slaves' from capture and retribution, further more they laid the ground work for eventual emancipation of all subjected peoples. So read a god**mn book and get yourself some learnin' that way you don't play into the stereotypes that do exist, and in your case exist for good reason. Finally, my comment on this story is how can there be all these posts and not one Delonte West joke – This is egregious. This must be addressed and soon.

Cleapatra209, and it was white people who got rid of slavery and jim crow laws. It was white people who enacted civil rights laws. Of course, there were very important Black American heroes like Frederick Douglas and Martin Luther King, Jr., who, by-the-way, would urge you to compose yourself and not acknowledge the haters with your arguments.

This comes from a person who can not formulate a complete and proper sentence. Also Cleopatra was mostly white as she is a descendant of Ptolemy who was Greek. So you may want to pick someone else perhaps Starr Parker. She is probably the only person that can get you on track. Look her up and read her book. Come on just do it, she is a Black Author. Couple small points: slavery is a universal affliction of ancient lineage. Scientific Racism was formulated by the Progressives of the democrat party. Jim Crow was a legal system that democrat party installed in the South to limit the voting of Black Republicans. Wickedness is a common sin of all people. Cleopatra was a Greek and noted for her milk white skin.

I heard this one from an "AFRICAN-AMERICAN comedian on "The Bob & Tom Show": This black lady had twin sons. The one son was named Orangelo and the other son was name Lemongelo. The other person asked the woman if these names had special "African American" significance to them. It's just as possible for African Americans to be racist and ignorant as their fairer counterparts. I find it unfortunate that Ms. James doesn't realize that her conduct affects her son's career. What is she doing drinking that early in the morning anyway? She should also compensate that attendant as well.

@Duude I am white and I don't see why race is automatically presumed to be an element. If I were arrested I just might make or think a comment like that. But when I would make or think such a comment I would mean I don't trust the cops. "Don't trust your kind" = "I know cops are corrupt." Just type in "cops" into the search field of YouTube. You will see all you ever need to see that the cops are 100% brainless brute thugs bungling things, lying, planting evidence, destroying police car in-dash videos, and the central creed that "blood is thicker than water".... they cover each other's asses with more lies and stonewalling.
