Celebrating A Wedding With Some Gunfire

Cops: Shots came from rented Lamborghini

JUNE 13--Meet Hassan “Rabbit” Rabat.

The Detroit, Michigan man was riding in the passenger seat of a rented Lamborghini Huracan when he fired celebratory shots into the air as the purple vehicle was en route to a banquet hall for a wedding reception, police allege.

Rabat, a member of the wedding party, was traveling in a caravan of “multiple sports vehicles” that were “driving recklessly in the area stemming from a wedding party,” according to a police report.

The autos were headed earlier this month to Royalty Manor Banquet Hall in Dearborn Heights, a Detroit suburb.

As the 2021 Lamborghini drove along a highway, a witness told cops, the passenger had “a firearm in his hand and fired shots in the air.” As seen below, the shooting was recorded by a dash cam in the witness’s vehicle.

Police first learned of the shooting when an onlooker dialed 911 to report that, “I’m on Ford Road. This guy is shooting guns in the middle of Ford Road."

Investigators tracked the Lamborghini--which had been rented for the day from Dream Luxury Car Rentals for $1500--to the banquet hall, where it was seized as possible evidence of a crime. “Members of the wedding party were uncooperative with Officers on scene and did not wish to provide any further information,” according to police.

With the aid of a confidential source--who has been providing information to police for more than a decade--police identified Rabat as the suspect. Pictured above, Rabat, who refused to speak with investigators, was arrested for reckless discharge of a firearm, a felony.

Free on a $1000 personal bond, Rabat is scheduled for a June 25 pretrial conference.

The purple Lamborghini was subsequently returned to the auto firm, which had also rented the wedding party a $1500-a-day yellow Lamborghini Urus (which was not implicated in any vehicular gunplay). (5 pages)
