Sausage Battery

DECEMBER 4--A judge has ordered a Florida Man to have no contact with his wife following his arrest for allegedly striking her in the face with a thrown sausage, records show.

During a “verbal altercation” Saturday afternoon, Ray Allen, 61, allegedly threw the sausage, presumably pork, at his spouse. “The said sausage struck [the 64-year-old victim] on the right side of the face,” according to an arrest affidavit.

EMS workers responded to the couple’s home in St. Petersburg and washed the victim’s eye out with a saline solution.

Pictured at right, Allen was arrested for domestic battery and booked into the county jail. He was released yesterday from custody on his own recognizance. Allen has pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge, while a Circuit Court judge issued an order barring him from contacting the victim.

Cops indicated that alcohol may have been a factor in the 2:50 PM confrontation.

The sausage linked to the battery was not seized, according to Officer Vincent Calvino. (1 page)
