Wisconsin Student Charged In Abduction Hoax

APRIL 14--The Wisconsin college student who claimed last month that she had been kidnapped has been charged today with lying to police. Audrey Seiler, who eventually admitted she staged her abduction from a campus apartment in Madison, was hit with two misdemeanor counts of obstructing police, according to the below Circuit Court criminal complaint. The below document provides a remarkably detailed account of the Madison Police Department's investigation and Seiler's continually evolving account of what really happened to her. At one point, according to the complaint, the 20-year-old University of Wisconsin student told cops, "I set everything up. I'm just so messed up. I'm sorry." If convicted, Seiler faces a maximum of nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine on each misdemeanor charge. (16 pages)
