Cops: Dispute Over Hard-Boiled Eggs Triggered Violent Domestic Attack

A domestic dispute over hard-boiled eggs---yes, hard-boiled eggs--escalated into a brawl that resulted in the arrest of a Florida man and medical treatment of the suspect’s wife and a teenage girl.

According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office affidavit, David Belson, 51, was charged with aggravated battery and child abuse in connection with the incident Saturday at the family’s Wellington home.

Deputies learned of the physical confrontation after Belson’s wife and a 16-year-old girl sought medical treatment at a local hospital.

A subsequent investigation determined that the melee was touched off by a “verbal argument…at the house over hard boiled eggs.” The sheriff’s affidavit does not further describe why Belson and his kin were arguing over hard-boiled eggs.

According to deputies, Belson grabbed the teen victim “by the hair and slammed her head against the door frame several times.” When Belson’s wife Magela, 50, sought to intercede, he “threw her into the wall.”

Belson, pictured above, was arrested Saturday night for felony child abuse and misdemeanor domestic battery. He was subsequently released from the Palm Beach county jail after posting $3000 bond.
