JULY 3--A 66-year-old South Carolina woman called 911 today to report that she realized an intruder had been in her apartment because the TV had been changed from the Fox News Channel, cops say.

According to a police report, Ruth Mandigo returned to her Myrtle Beach apartment around 1 AM after working a 12-hour shift.

Mandigo told cops that the offender ate her food, lowered her thermostat, and watched her television. “The victim states she knows this because...she always keeps her TV on ‘Fox News’ and that was not what channel was on when she returned home.”

According to a Myrtle Beach Police Department report, Mandigo alleged that the intruder was the 18-year-old son of her roommate, adding that the man did not have permission to enter the apartment. Mandigo lodged two similar burglary complaints against the teenager earlier this week.

The man fingered by Mandigo (not seen at left) pleaded guilty last month to unrelated malicious injury and trespassing charges, according to jail records. While the teen is listed as a suspect in the police report, cops noted that no items had been taken from Mandigo’s home and no evidence had been developed to support her claim that “someone has been inside the victim’s residence aside from her.”

While officers observed damage to Mandigo’s front door, they could not determine whether it was new or old.

Investigators did not detail which channel the misguided intruder preferred over the home of Megyn Kelly, Sean Hannity, and Bill O’Reilly. (1 page)
