Walmart Wallop

NOVEMBER 14--Meet Eric De’armarcus Beasley.

Police allege that the 22-year-old Floridian punched a female Walmart employee in the face when she asked to see a receipt for the $285 in stolen merchandise he was pushing out of the store in a shopping cart.

Beasley was arrested Sunday evening following a confrontation at a Walmart Supercenter in Oldsmar, a city 15 miles east of Tampa (where Beasley resides).

The Walmart worker who was punched told police that Beasley had been suspected of shoplifting earlier in the day.

When Beasley returned and sought to leave the store around 9 PM with a full cart containing toothpaste, a shower curtain, shaving material, and clothing, he was approached near the exit by a 32-year-old employee.

Upon being asked to show a receipt for the goods, Beasley walloped the woman and ran from the store. The victim, cops noted, was left with a “noticeable mark on her face” and “she stated she was in pain.”

After Beasley was apprehended, he reportedly confessed to punching the worker in the face and attempting to steal from Walmart. Beasley, however, “did not appear remorseful for his actions,” a sheriff’s deputy wrote in an arrest affidavit.

Charged with theft, battery, and resisting a merchant, Beasley is being held in the county jail in lieu of $2000 bond on the misdemeanor counts. (2 pages)
