Chelsea Manning, a former U.S. Army intelligence analyst, was sentenced to 35 years in prison following a 2013 court-martial conviction. Manning, then known as Bradley, was convicted of providing a large cache of diplomatic cables and classified documents to Wikileaks. After Manning served about seven years in custody, President Barack Obama commuted the balance of her sentence in January 2017, leading to Manning’s release months later from the military prison in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
