Avocado Battery

MARCH 14--A 39-year-old Florida Woman is facing a felony battery charge for allegedly striking her 68-year-old boyfriend in the eye with a thrown avocado, according to court records.

Police say that Karleen Biswanger and the victim have been living together in a St. Petersburg apartment for about a year and “have been engaging in consensual sexual intercourse.”

During a confrontation Sunday evening, police allege, Biswanger “threw an avocado at the victim’s face causing injury to his right eye.” Pictured at right, Biswanger also allegedly threw a “hanging rod” that struck the man in the arm.

“A portion of this incident was witnessed by a neighbor,” a St. Petersburg cop noted. The alleged battery occurred at an apartment complex for residents aged 62 and older. After being read her rights, Biswanger denied “directly striking” the victim.

Biswanger was arrested for battering a victim aged 65 or older, a felony. She was released from the county jail without bond late Sunday night.

Biswanger’s rap sheet includes multiple convictions for illegal possession of Xanax, as well as convictions for theft, DUI, obstructing police, probation violation, and driving without a license. (1 page)
