Ted Williams Wanted To Be Cremated

Petition Re: Ted Williams Remains

Though Ted Williams is now being "cryonically preserved" in that frozen Arizona canister, the late baseball star wanted to be cremated and have his ashes "sprinkled at sea off the coast of Florida where the water is very deep," according to his will, which was finally filed this afternoon in Florida's Citrus County Circuit Court (and which you'll find here). But according to a petition filed today by Albert Cassidy, the executor of Williams's estate, the Splendid Splinter had a change of mind after executing the 1996 will and "expressed the desire to be cryonically preserved." But since that purported revision was not memorialized in a codicil to the will, Teddy Ballgame's final resting place may have to be decided by a Florida judge. (8 pages)
