  • After leading police on a two-mile chase, an Oregon man who stole a delivery van packed with doughnuts pulled the vehicle over and placed his hands out the window as a pastry fell from his grip, according to cops.

The 2004 Chevrolet Astro van was stolen around 2 AM today when its driver stopped to make a delivery in Portland. The vehicle is owned by Donut Land, a business headquarted in Tualatin, a Portland suburb.

Investigators allege that Peter Leon Johansen, 34, got into the unlocked vehicle and drove off. But soon after the van was boosted, a cop spotted the vehicle and gave chase.

Johansen eventually pulled over and complied with an officer’s demands to put his hands out the van’s window. “The suspect put his hands out the window and the officer observed a pastry fall from the suspect’s hand,” according to a Portland Police Bureau report.

Pictured above, Johansen was arrested and charged with stealing the van and fleeing from police. He was booked into the Multnomah County jail, where he is locked up in lieu of $15,000 bail.

While the Donut Land vehicle was not damaged during the chase, “there were donuts all over the inside of the van,” investigators noted. It is unlear whether cops had to impound any of the pastries for evidentiary purposes.

  • A New York woman is facing child endangerment charges after she allegedly hosted a “beer pong” party in her home for underage revelers, police report.

Responding to a telephone tip about a 9:30 PM rager underway at a Putnam Valley home, sheriff’s deputies arrived at a Sunrise Drive residence to discover “under-aged persons on the premises who were reportedly drinking from a large assortment of alcoholic beverages.”

Four of the nine minors imbibing were under 17, cops allege.

During police questioning, Laurie Kennedy, 50, reportedly admitted hosting the September 19 party and “knowingly approved of the minors’ consumption of alcohol.” Additionally, Kennedy “allegedly even encouraged the teens’ behavior by furnishing tables, cups, and ping pong balls for their use in a drinking game commonly known as ‘beer pong,’” deputies reported.

Kennedy was hit with 14 misdemeanor counts related to the beer pong party. Free on her own recognizance, she faces a maximum of a year in jail and a $1000 fine on each of the criminal charges. Kennedy is pictured above in a Facebook photo captioned, “Using my new wine glass, it holds 3/4 of a bottle!!!”

Police did not disclose which of Kennedy’s five children were present at the party, which came a week after her home was sold at public auction due to a foreclosure action. The Putnam County home is about 45 miles north of Manhattan.

  • A college student was arrested last night for jogging while intoxicated, Pennsylvania police report.

James Finan, 21, was spotted “jogging alongside Rte. 378 without any light” around 1:30 Sunday morning, according to a Lower Saucon Township Police Department report. Finan attends nearby DeSales University, where he is a business major.

According to cops, “vehicles were observed to take defensive measures to avoid Finan” as he ran alongside the roadway.

When cops confronted Finan, he reportedly smelled of booze and was unsteady on his feet. A subsequent Breathalyzer registered the collegian’s blood alcohol content at .19, more than twice the legal limit (when you're behind the wheel).

Finan, a New Jersey native, was cited for public drunkenness. According to his Facebook page, Finan (seen above) is a big golf fan and has joined the Facebook group of Joe’s Liquors: King of Kegs, a New Jersey business.

  • A New York City mailman failed to deliver about 40,000 pieces of mail--some of which date back nearly a decade--and stashed the parcels and letters in his work locker, car, and Brooklyn home, investigators allege.

Federal agents this week began investigating Joseph Brucato, 67, after receiving information that there was undelivered mail in his personal vehicle.

When he was confronted Tuesday, Brucato told agents that he had been keeping undelivered mail in his car for the past six months, noting that “on some days he did not deliver the mail intended for his route for various personal reasons.”

Brucato, who has delivered mail since 2001, is assigned to Brooklyn’s Ryder Station.

According to U.S. District Court criminal complaint, Brucato consented to a search of his car, locker, and home. Agents recovered “approximately 2500 pounds of U.S. mail, some postmarked as early as 2005,” Agent Michael Wu reported. The seized material included “parcels, Priority, First Class and Standard Class” mail intended for Brooklyn residents and businesses.

If convicted of the felony mail hoarding, Brucato faces a maximum of five years in prison. He has been suspended without pay by the U.S. Postal Service.

  • An Uber driver was arrested yesterday and charged with battery for allegedly placing his hands down the shirt of a 25-year-old female customer.

The victim told police that she was en route last Friday night to meet her boyfriend at his Orlando residence when driver Ramy Botros “began driving in an odd pattern and back tracking several times.” The 28-year-old Botros, she added, made “comments to her about how ‘Attractive' and ‘Pretty’ she was,” according to an arrest report.

At one point, the woman told cops, Botros stopped his Honda Civic and placed his hand down the front of her tank top and “touched her breasts in an aggressive manner.” The victim, police added, “was not wearing an undershirt or bra, so his hand touched her directly on her breast.”

“Do not touch my boobs or I will hit you in your face!,” the woman recalled telling Botros, an Egyptian immigrant. The passenger told investigators that while she was afraid of Botros, she “tried to play off his actions as harmless,” and even asked for his business card when she arrived at her destination.

During the ride, the woman used her phone to record part of her interaction with Botros, since “she had read several things about the ‘Uber’ drivers sexually battering women.”

After the woman yesterday picked Botros from a photo lineup, cops summoned him to police headquarters, where he agreed to an interview.

Botros, pictured above, told a cop that the victim was “wearing a revealing shirt with no bra.” He added that, in Egypt, if a “girl like her” dressed like the victim, “it means she asking for that.”

Despite that shaky rationale, Botros was arrested on the misdemeanor charge and booked into the county jail (from which he was released today after posting $500 bond).

In response to Botros’s arrest, Uber has suspended his driver’s account, according to a statement from the car service company.

  • After harvesting a small crop of marijuana plants found growing in a field, beneficent Pennsylvania police have offered to return the pot once its rightful owner contacts them.

Officers in York County reported finding the plants in Dover Township near Colonial Road. “If they are yours and you can prove ownership…please call to claim them,” investigators offered.

Police can be reached at (717) 292-3647. As of 4:20 PM Wednesday, the pot has yet to be claimed from the Northern York County Regional Police, according to Lt. David Lash.

Some of the seized plants can be seen in these evidence photos.

  • In case you have been wondering what convicted murderer Phil Spector is looking like these days, here is his latest mug shot from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

The former music impresario, who is serving 19 years to life for the 2003 killing of actress Lana Clarkson, was last photographed by prison officials in October 2013. As seen below, a more ebullient Spector was photographed by jailers last July.

The 74-year-old Spector is locked up in a prison health care facility in Stockton that provides medical and mental health treatment to “inmates with the most severe and long term needs.”

  • Conservative writer/filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza was spared prison time today when a federal judge sentenced him to five years probation for violating campaign finance laws.

For the first eight months of his probation term, D’Souza will have to live in a "community confinement center" in San Diego, ordered Judge Richard Berman, who also fined D’Souza $30,000 and directed him to undergo “therapeutic counseling.” D’Souza will also have to perform one day per week of community service during his probation term.

In remarks before announcing D’Souza’s sentence, Berman said that he did not believe the defendant had accepted responsibility for his crime. “I’m not sure, Mr. D’Souza, that you get it,” said Berman, who referred to D’Souza’s claim that he was a victim of selective prosecution.

During the sentencing hearing, Berman read from a blistering letter submitted to the court by D’Souza’s estranged wife. In the missive, Dixie D’Souza alleged that her ex-spouse forged her signature on one campaign contribution form, and that he had an “abusive nature.”

D’Souza, who was married to the defendant for 20 years, wrote, “In one instance, it was my husband who physically abused me in April 2012 when he, using his purple belt karate skills, kicked me in the head and shoulder, knocking me to the ground and creating injuries that pain me to this day.” Click here to download a PDF of Dixie D’Souza’s five-page letter to Berman.

Dinesh D’Souza filed for divorce in October 2012, and that case remains active in California’s Superior Court.

In May, on the eve of his criminal trial, D’Souza pleaded guilty to illegally arranging $20,000 in straw donations to the 2012 U.S. Senate campaign of Wendy Long, a New York Republican who was challenging incumbent Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand.

The 53-year-old D’Souza, a close friend of Long, personally reimbursed the straw donors, effectively allowing him to exceed the $5000 limit for individual donors. According to a probation report cited by Berman, D'Souza's net worth is in excess of $5 million.

D’Souza, pictured above, was sentenced by Berman during a two-hour hearing in U.S. District Court in lower Manhattan. The 71-year-old jurist was appointed to the federal bench by President Bill Clinton.

In a court filing, D’Souza’s lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, asked Berman to sentence his client, a first-time offender, to a probation term that would include a community service component. Brafman contended that D’Souza was singled out for prosecution by the Department of Justice due to his “consistently caustic and highly publicized criticism” of President Barack Obama.

In his own letter to Berman, D’Souza contended that, “No good purpose would be served by locking me up.”

In response to D’Souza’s plea for leniency, federal prosecutors asked Berman to sentence to the convicted felon to 10 to 16 months in prison. “The defendant’s crime is serious and strikes at the heart of our federal election system,” prosecutors argued.

  • A man named Calvin Wank was arrested Saturday morning at an upstate New York truck stop after several drivers reported seeing him “committing sexually lewd acts while in the parking lot,” according to police.

Seen at right, Wank is a 56-year-old resident of Deposit, a town about 35 miles from the Love’s Truck Stop where he was busted around 10:15 AM. Witnesses reported that Wank was “committing sexually lewd acts while in the parking lot and field next to the truck stop.”

State troopers responding to a suspicious person report arrested Wank for public lewdness, a misdemeanor. He is scheduled for an October 7 court appearance.

  • A Rhode Island man was arrested four separate times in 30 hours for drunk driving, an unmatched criminal feat he accomplished while behind the wheel of four different vehicles, according to police.

John Lourenco, 53, was first arrested last Sunday afternoon when he crashed his Dodge pickup truck into an SUV carrying two children (both of whom were treated and released from a Providence hospital).

Lourenco’s next three busts occurred in Cumberland, the town outside Providence where he resides.

At 7:15 Monday morning, Lourenco--driving a Chevrolet Malibu--rear-ended another vehicle. Lourenco was subsequently arrested after his blood alcohol content was measured at .22, nearly three times the legal limit. He was later given a court summons and released into the custody of his 79-year-old father, Cumberland cops report.

Around 11:15 AM, a Cumberland cop spotted Lourenco--now behind the wheel of a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda--driving erratically. Lourenco, a general contractor, was pulled over and an officer determined he was intoxicated. He was transported to the Landmark Medical Center, where he “was released from police custody to the hospital.”

Lourenco’s fourth arrest occurred around 5 PM after he departed the hospital and got into a dump truck he owns. He eventually crashed the construction vehicle into “a tree and a wall doing heavy damage to all.” Lourenco “sustained minor injuries and was transported back” to the hospital for treatment of new injuries.

Remarkably, Lourenco was released on bail following each of the four arrests.

Lourenco did not respond to a message left by a reporter on his cell phone.

  • Administrators at a Long Island high school are investigating a group of male students who posed for photos appearing to make light of rape.

The images taken yesterday on the athletic field at Commack High School were posted to social media sites, where they were spotted by fellow students, many of whom were angered by the two pictures.

One of the photos (seen above) shows five boys wearing t-shirts that spell out “RAPE?” The second image shows the same quintet spelling out “RAPE.” In the foreground of the second shot (seen below), a sixth boy is on the ground with his hands bound, presumably portraying a victim.

In a statement, school officials said that the students “showed an inexcusable lack of judgment,” adding that they have launched a “comprehensive investigation to determine the full scope of this matter and whether or not this was an isolated incident.”

In a Twitter post yesterday, a female classmate of the boys wrote, “These assholes did this for senior class pictures today. Wait till they see me tomorrow.” She later added, “I don't even want to enter the doors of Commack High School tomorrow or ever where there are people who find rape as a joke.”

  • After being confronted yesterday by an employee who suspected him of shoplifting at an adult novelty store, a 22-year-old man removed a stolen “pocket pussy out of his pants,” police report.

Cops summoned to the Priscilla McCall’s store in Spartanburg were told by a female employee that Shane Gregory was in the shop “asking her questions about the different products,” adding that she “showed him a few items.”

The worker, Mary Jane McGraw, told police that she was familiar with Gregory (pictured at right) since he had previously filled out an application to work at Priscilla McCall’s, a 27-store chain catering to “customers wishing to enhance their relationship or to those just wanting to have fun.”

McGraw told cops that Gregory was “acting strangely,” and set off the business’s “security device” as he exited the store. McGraw confronted Gregory and asked him to empty his pockets.

Gregory initially fished out a condom from his pocket, which prompted McGraw to ask what else he had. The employee told police that, “he then pulled a pocket pussy out of his pants.” The item, as its name indicates, is a portable artificial vagina, some models of which are designed to resemble the vaginas of porn stars.

Cops arrested Gregory for shoplifting and took him in handcuffs to the county jail, where he was booked on the misdemeanor rap.

After six hours in custody, Gregory’s release came last night at 6:48 PM. That likely would have occurred earlier had McGraw not caught him with the purloined pocket pussy.
