David Geffen is the king of Hollywood philanthropy. The entertainment czar's foundation made 158 donations, totaling nearly $5 million during 1997. IRS records show that, from 1992-1997, the David Geffen Foundation has donated more than $21 million. During 1997, Geffen deposited $3.5 million into his foundation, which made large contributions to an assortment of AIDS-related charities and groups like the UCLA Foundation and Steven Spielberg's Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation. Since Geffen's contribution list runs 18 pages, we're only reproducing some representative pages. In fact, the foundation is so active that Geffen pays one Andy Spahn $118,873 a year (for 20-hour work weeks) to run the organization. (5 pages)
